Nottingham Family NHS project announced

We are delighted to share the news that we have been appointed to work with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on their new Children’s, Young People’s and Family Unit and Perinatal Unit which will open in Nottingham in 2017.

The Trust is leading the way in young people’s mental health services by bringing together inpatient Children’s, Young People’s and Family (CYP&F) and Perinatal (Mother and Baby) mental health services with community child and adolescent mental health services on a single site to create a child and family friendly ‘campus’.

Willis Newson are developing the arts strategy for the new development, to create a supportive, caring environment informed by thorough and sensitive consultation and engagement with service users, led by local artists.

We will work with the Trust and architects Gilling Dod to design a space which supports health and wellbeing for vulnerable patients. We will deliver an integrated art & interiors plan including:

  • A naming strategy for the site and buildings which builds on consultation and a naming competition already carried out by the Trust
  • A design philosophy or vision for the building as a whole which will guide and inform art and interior design decisions taken throughout the project
  • Proposals and locations for art within the new buildings
  • Interior design integration proposals
